FROM PLAY TO STAGE
At this stage, the emphasis is on training and discipline. You may be considering a career in the performance industry and wish to acquire more skill, technique and experience. Or you may simply want to try it and see, building up your confidence for whatever lies ahead. These classes will give you the means to achieve whatever you are working towards.
Improvisation skills: How to be spontaneous in a classroom setting. How to tell a story using drama. How to perform completely in character and respond instinctively.
Vocal expression: You will be taught basic vocal exercises on breath control, projection, clarity and producing the right tone and inflection.
Sight reading: You will be given techniques for communicating with confidence on an unseen piece.
Working with text: How to lift the words off the page and make them real; how to develop the character you play and respond to the given circumstances in the text.
Career advice: choosing the right audition piece; how to stage immediate impact in an interview situation.
Rehearsals for performance at the theatre will include all aspects of class work including that undertaken in singing workshops.
