FIRST STEPS IN THEATRE

Age Group: 6-9 years

FROM GAME TO PLAY
Children learn to understand themselves by telling stories. It is through story that a child learns to use his imagination. Initially we play games in order to break down barriers and learn how to be a member of a group. The games then take on further significance as the child widens her understanding.
Drama is about asking questions. Who am I? What do I want? Why? When? And so on…… By the telling of simple stories we then begin to form characters and forget that we are performing for an audience. It is through the experience of drama, in a safe and trustng environment that children will grow in confidence and creativity.
Each session will include some storytelling, some simple theatre games and some scenes. All pupils will have an opportunity to speak in front of the class and thereby find the courage to speak and perform in front of a wider audience.

If desired the child will be entered for LAMDA examination in Speech and Drama at an extra cost of (TBA)
