In this class, we will look at strategies for turning the words on the page to a living performance. For this to work you will need the “tools” of acting; the technique, the imagination and the confidence to perform without fear.
Vocal expression: How to use your voice effectively. How to find the right tone, inflection, pitch, projection. How to breathe properly so as to sustain the voice.
Character development: How to search for clues in the journey the character makes. Bringing the character to life with physical action and vocal technique.
Dealing with nerves: A clear no-nonsense approach to remaining calm when it counts. How to work as part of a team. Building confidence.
Classes will be based on play texts, improvisation, theatre games and sight reading.
For those who are thinking of taking their studies further towards professional training or amateur performance, audition technique may also be included.
Rehearsals for performance will include all aspects of class work.
